IArticle type: Case report

A 14 years old child with the diagnosis of (PAR) was followed for one year in a primary care setting at the periphery of Makkah holy city. (PAR) mini-clinic was prepared and the staff was trained on the use of communication and education skills (CES) on (PAR) patients. The team diagnosed (PAR) depending on the presence of four cardinal symptoms which are (sneezing, nasal itching, rhinorrhea and blocked stuffy nose) plus the chronicity of the problem. The child and his parents (CHP) concerns, misbelieves plus the cost of the drugs and mite covers were the main areas of visits. (PAR) management outcomes were the clinical improvement in the child four cardinal symptoms, the triggers avoidance, the nasal spray compliance and technique and the (CHP) knowledge. These outcomes were followed in each visit which has improved a lot at the end of the year. The aim of this case report is to show the beneficial effects of using (CES) on (PAR) management outcomes. To my knowledge this is the first case report in the literature.
